Society and Culture

Coast Salish society is part of a Pacific Northwest indigenous culture–extending from Tillamook Bay to northern Vancouver Island–that has evolved over one hundred centuries. Adapting to the European culture of a pollution-based economy, that has been decimating the indigenous natural economy for two centuries, has presented formidable challenges to the survival of Coast Salish society and Pacific Northwest indigenous culture.

Their survival is dependent on Americans changing their way of life.
